Description
Overview
Inspire Africa’s Workbook lays the groundwork for lifelong problem-solving and 21st-century skills. Through simple, engaging activities, learners will:
- Explore Algorithms, Design & Coding
Sequence everyday tasks (e.g., brushing teeth, following story instructions) to grasp basic logic and step-by-step thinking. - Discover Robotics Concepts
Build simple robot models to develop engineering thought processes, practice directional turns, and participate in pair programming—without ever turning on a device. - Understand Digital Concepts
Recognise what makes a device “smart,” distinguish between real-world versus digital tools, and build early digital literacy through games and discussions.
Each strand is woven into age-appropriate scenarios, helping little ones connect abstract ideas to tangible, everyday experiences.
Curriculum and resources
All lesson plans, printable activity sheets, and videos are available through the Inspire Campus, our online Learning Management System. Educators also receive:
- Curriculum planners that map each activity to CAPS outcomes
- Downloadable templates for manipulatives (e.g., directional arrow cards, sequence cards)
Step-by-step Lesson Plans with clear instructions and estimated timings.
Training
We support every teacher with Foundation Phase Coding and Robotics training:
- Virtual workshops: Live online sessions where our facilitators demonstrate unplugged activities, troubleshoot questions, and share best practices.
- Self-Paced micro-course: A concise, on-demand module you can complete at your own pace—ideal if you prefer flexible timing or need a quick refresher.
Upon completion, you will feel confident delivering each activity, even if you have never taught Coding or Robotics before
